It has always been a belief of the camp founder that children, art, horses and nature go together
creatively and constructively. The Vershire Arts and Riding is a program that is in addition to
our regular children's riding camp. This program combines the fine and practical arts, nature
and the passion for horses.

A bit About the Creative Arts Program
After being involved in education, it seems increasingly important to us that young people
should be encouraged to explore the creative arts for many reasons including the great
contribution to their self-esteem. A charcoal sketch, water color painting, clay sculpture
provides not only a sense of accomplishment, but is a source of personal pride as well. We offer
painting, clay, textiles, hand building projects, exploration in nature, and avenues for creative
individual expression.

The Riding Program
We take pride in our daily lesson schedule which focuses on the improving the children's riding
skills, regardless of ability when they enroll at Vershire. Each student would ride her horse/pony
2 hours daily in mounted lessons covering dressage, cross country and stadium jumping. Our main
goal has always been to help enthusiastic riders use all the opportunities available to progress
in their individual riding, and appreciation for the horse who works so diligently in the
teaching/learning process.

The Natural World Program
Woven into a day of exploration in the arts and riding comes the opportunity to assist in our
organic vegetable and flower garden. Our organically grown vegetables contribute to the meals in
the camp dining hall. Along with caring for the garden and your horse you will be taking care
of the other animals from our farm. Every year our farm family grows a little larger.

Our 38+ year history at the Vershire Riding School reflects our excellence with
both horses and people - children and adults. Our business has always been in
producing confident and competent riders who appreciate and practice sound
horsemanship. We carry this enthusiastic and directed approach to the field of art.
